On Discernment and Company
यस्मिन्देशे न सम्मानो न वृत्तिर्न च बान्धवाः । न च विद्यागमोऽप्यस्ति वासं तत्र न कारयेत् ॥
yasmindeśe na sammāno na vṛttirna ca bāndhavāḥ | na ca vidyāgamo'pyasti vāsaṃ tatra na kārayet ||

“Where there is no honour, no livelihood, no relatives, and no scope for learning. Do not live in such a place.”
In Modern Life
Four factor test for where you live or work: dignity, income, community, growth. Lose any two for a sustained period. Leave. Loyalty to a place that gives you none of these is not virtue; it is inertia dressed as commitment.
